Market Ambassador Program
Larimer County Extension has partnered with the Northern Colorado Foodshed Project to improve diversity and inclusion at the Larimer County Farmers’ Market. Too often, language and cultural barriers mean that not all community members feel welcome at our farmers markets, and we aim to do something about that.
The Market Ambassador Program started at the Larimer County Farmers’ Market during the 2020 season. The Market Ambassador works directly with the Latinx community in Larimer County promote the market and determine if there are barriers to accessing the market.
Laura Barajas joined the Larimer County Farmers’ Market team in the summer of 2020 as the LCFM Market Ambassador. She began her involvement with CSU Larimer County Extension as a 2019 graduate of The Family Leadership Training Institute (FLTI) program of Larimer County. Currently, she is a co-coordinator for the FLTI 2020 English/Spanish Language Justice cohort at Extension. Laura grew up in Fort Collins, CO and is fluent in both English and Spanish. In her spare time, Laura likes to dance, sleep, and spend time with her family
